'Dance In The Making' conference on youth choreography

Dance in the Making, a 2-day conference on youth choreorgaphy, took place in parallel with U.Dance 2012 at Southabnk Centre, London, on 14th and 15th July.

Bringing learning and discussion to the heart of the U.Dance 2012 festival, professionals and young dance artists were invited to join in discussions on the theme of choreography by and with young people.

Talks delved into questions on best practice, the importance of young people understanding choreographic processes, professionals' experiences of working with young people and how to support and ensure the future of young people's choreography.

Speakers included young professional choreographers such as James Cousins, experienced professional choreographers who work with young people like Kerry Nicholls and Katie Green, as well as an international perspective from French colleagues Brigitte Hyon and Agnès Bretel from the Centre National de la Danse.
